Halma Companies Showcase Innovation at All India Ophthalmological Society
30 May 2023
Three Halma companies showcased their innovative healthcare technologies at the 81st annual conference of the All India Ophthalmological Society in Kochi, Kerela, from 11 to 14 May. The conference attracted more than 5,000 ophthalmologists, healthcare professionals, researchers, scientists, distributors, and traders from India and abroad, making it one of the largest ophthalmology conferences in the country.
During the four-day conference, teams from Volk Optical, Keeler and MST presented their leading ophthalmic solutions that enhance the quality of life for patients and improve the quality of care delivered by healthcare providers.
Volk Optical showcased some of their cutting-edge ophthalmic lenses and equipment, including VistaView®, which is used in more than 100 health centers across 60 cities in India.
It’s a compact and easy-to-use retinal camera that diagnoses and treats diseases of the eye for people who live far from healthcare facilities. Using the technology, a healthcare worker in the field can take high-quality images of a patient’s eye and then upload them for assessment by a trained eyecare professional miles away in a central hospital. The camera has recently been recognized for its innovation by one of the world’s most prestigious design prizes, the Red Dot design award.
Keeler demonstrated their entire collection of the latest ophthalmic diagnostic solutions, technologies, and equipment. Their special headsets help clinicians gain a wide field of view, enabling doctors to diagnose retinal detachments, tears and other conditions. This technology, known as a binocular indirect ophthalmoscope (BIO), has been used globally to reach patients in areas where access to medical care is limited.
MST presented their range of therapeutic solutions that equip healthcare providers with the most innovative tools to achieve the best possible outcomes for their patients. These include some of their exceptional surgical devices and instruments designed keeping in mind the distinct clinical needs of ophthalmic surgeons.
“As a global group of technology companies, Halma is committed to growing a safer, cleaner, healthier future for everyone, every day by working together with healthcare providers and partners to increase access to healthcare. We have several eyecare companies whose technologies enable ophthalmologists and doctors to monitor patients’ eye health, often in remote locations, and carry out affordable and effective treatments,” said Prasenjit Datta, Managing Director, Halma India.
“It was a pleasure to interact and listen to our community of ophthalmologists, doctors, scientists, and researchers who use Volk’s ophthalmic lenses and equipment to diagnose and treat eye diseases in India. We are proud to have established the industry standard and are determined to continue serving our community by continually raising the bar by providing the highest quality solutions leading to the eradication of preventable blindness,” said Thamarr Griffith, President and CEO, Volk Optical.
